Ingredients to Make Meat Sauce Lasagna in the Microwave
The key to this lasagna is no-boil oven-ready lasagna noodles. The ONLY ones I’ve ever found that really are oven-ready are the Barilla brand. Every other brand I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot), the lasagna has to cook much longer. Make sure to use the Barilla noodles for this recipe. You can find them at just about any grocery store.
Alsom, unless you require it, don’t use Barilla’s gluten free oven-ready lasagna noodles because those will also double the cook time for this recipe.
Here’s what you need:
- 6 Oven Ready Lasagna Noodles (Barilla brand)
- 24 oz jar spaghetti sauce
- 4 oz ricotta cheese
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 16 oz mozarella cheese
- minced garlic
- Parmesan cheese
How do you make a Meat Sauce Lasagna in the Microwave?
In a microwave-safe bowl or dish, break up the raw ground beef into small pieces. Cook on HIGH for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes.
Drain the meat.
Break the meat up again and add the minced garlic and Parmesan, gently stirring it up into the meat.
Heat for an additional 2-3 minutes on HIGH, until the meat has reached a temperature of 165 F degrees. Drain the meat a second time.
Combine the meat with the spaghetti sauce.
In the bottom of a microwave-safe 8-inch square baking dish, spread ½ cup of the sauce.
Top the sauce with 2 lasagna noodles.
Spread ricotta cheese over the top of the noodles.
Add sauce over the ricotta and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
Repeat this until the last noodles.
After topping with the last two lasagna noodles, Pour trhe rest of the sauce over the top, making sure to cover the noodles.
Add shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
Cover with wax paper or parchment paper. Microwave on HIGH for 15-20 minutes, until the noodles are tender,
Let stand for 5- 10 minutes before serving.
Can you make a larger lasagna for the microwave?
Usually when I make a lasagna for the oven, I make one in a 9 x 13 pan. But, for the microwave I stick to a smaller size, so that it can rotate and cook evenly in the microwave.. A 12 x 12 microwave-safe baking dish works perfectly for the oven-ready lasagna noodles. You could also use a 7 x 11 pan, but the noodles don’t fit as well.
How do you store leftover lasagna?
I keep leftovers up to four days in a sealed container in the fridge.
When it’s time to reheat, I cut a square, then cut that square into smaller pieces and heat for 45 seconds up to 1 minute on HIGH.
