I’ve cooked rice so many ways — a rice cooker, the stovetop, and the microwave, and cooking white rice in the microwave is the easiest for me. I don’t have to watch it. I can just set the microwave and forget it. And the best part is that it comes out perfect every time.

How do you make Rice in the Microwave
Use a colander to wash the rice.
Transfer the rice to a large microwave-safe bowl.
Add the water to the rice. Add the salt and butter if desired. I usually just cook plain rice without salt and butter.
I don’t recommend adding a lid because it usually makes the water boil over, which is a big mess to clean up in a microwave.
Microwave on HIGH for 5 minutes.
Give it a stir.
Set the microwave at 50% powder and cook for 15 minutes.
Allow the rice to sit for 5 minutes before fluffing.
Check the rice and see if it’s done. If not, cook it on HIGH for an additional minute or two.
That’s it! Serve it with your favorite meals.
