Make yourself a microwave frittata for breakfast, brunch, or even dinner, and you can do it in a plate, not a mug!

Are a frittata and omelet the same thing?
I’d say sorta. A Frittata is basically a crustless quiche. It’s usually made over low heat versus an omelet made over high heat, and it’s typically served for brunch instead of breakfast. A frittata is also usually served at room temperature and not hot like an omelet.
Ingredients to make a Frittata
The basic ingredients are milk and eggs, but you can totally make this your own with your favorite veggies or meats. Here’s what I like to put in a frittata:
- 2 eggs
- 1⁄4 cup milk
- 1⁄2 cup fresh baby spinach
- diced tomatoes
- diced precooked bacon or ham
- 1⁄3 shredded cheese
- non-stick oil cooking spray
- salt and pepper
How do you make a Microwave Frittata?
Spray a microwave safe deep dish plate with non-stick oil spray.
I like to make this in a deep dish plate. If your plates are shallow then use a cereal-sized bowl.

Beat the two eggs and milk in a separate bowl lightly with a fork, pour into plate.

Wash the spinach and pat it dry. Spread it out over the center of the eggs.
Add chopped onions, peppers, and tomatoes.
Dice pre-cooked meats such as bacon, ham or sausage and add it around the plate.
Add shredded cheese.

Microwave on high for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. Watch it as it cooks because the center will puff up and let it cook for an additional 20-30 seconds after this, then stop the microwave.
Avoid overcooking or it will make the eggs crunchy on the edges and not taste good.
Serve immediately.
