If you don’t have the option to make banana bread in the oven, banana bread in the microwave comes out pretty amazing. It is a denser bread, but it’s really delicious. My teenager just devours it.

What do you need to make Chocolate Chip Banana Bread in the Microwave?

You’ll need basic banana bread ingredients:

  • flour
  • baking powder
  • salt
  • white sugar
  • cinnamon
  • 3-4 bananas
  • eggs
  • vegetable oil
  • vanilla extract
  • chocolate chips – semi sweet and bitter sweet work best, but we also like using milk chocolate, too

Peel the bananas and put them in a freezer ziplock bag and freeze them for a couple days. Then, let them thaw for a couple hours in the fridge. The intense banana flavor seems to really be released from the freezing and thawing and really come out in the banana bread.

Use a microwave-safe loaf pan, such as a glass loaf pan or a silicone loaf pan. Press parchment paper into the bottom and sides.

In a separate bowl add the flour, white sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon together.

In a mixing bowl mix the mashed bananas, egg, oil, and vanilla extract.
