Toasting Nuts in the Microwave

by Stephanie

If you want to add some extra flavor to a recipe that calls for nuts, try toasting nuts in the microwave. It’s perfect for toasting just a handful when you want to add them to a salad or just to snack on.

The microwave makes it easy to make a mini batch of toasted nuts quick and easy without having to heat up the oven or wait for the toaster oven to preheat!

What do you need to Toast Nuts in the Microwave?

You’ll need about 1/2 to 1 cup of nuts and you’ll want a microwave-safe plate or bowl.

How to Toast Nuts in the Microwave

The best way to do it is definitely in the oven, but there are times when you just want a small handful of nuts, for a salad, or snacking, or even maybe making banana bread in a mug.

Make sure you have a microwave-safe plate where you can spread out the nuts in a single layer.

Then, begin toasting the nuts in 1-minute increments. Stir the nuts after each time.

Continue toasting in the microwave for about 4 minutes, stirring after each minute.

If you aren’t sure about using the microwave for toasting nuts, I’ve even read about people who toast their nuts in a panini press or sandwich maker!
