You won’t believe the desserts you can make in the microwave. Here’s a few of my favorites:

What ingredients do you need to make a Microwave Graham Cracker Crust?

  • 3 tablespoons of butter

How many graham crackers are in 1 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs?

This is where your division skills come in handy.

You can totally buy canisters or boxes of graham cracker crumbs, but if you don’t have that and you just have a box of actual graham crackers, here’s how much you need:

For 1 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs, you’ll need 33 crackers.

Each graham cracker “sheet,” you know the rectangles of graham crackers, is actually 4 crackers together. I know we usually just think of the sheet as the actual cracker, but it’s not.

So 33 crackers actually comes out to 8 sheets + 1 cracker (or 1/4 sheet) because 33 / 4 = 8.25.

How do you crush graham crackers?

There are a couple of ways.

  1. My favorite way is in the food processor. I pulse about half the graham crackers at a time until they are course crumbs. You don’t want a fine dust.
  2. The other method is putting all the graham cracker in a gallon size ziplock bag and roll over them a million times with a rolling pin or a cup to crush them. This one is definitely old school and takes some time.

How do you make a graham cracker crust?

Melt the butter in the microwave. It will probably take about 30 seconds.

Combine the melted butter and graham cracker crumbs and mix until the butter has completely mixed into the graham cracker crumbs and all the crumbs are covered in some butter.

Spreading the graham crackers in a glass pie pan.

I mix until there isn’t any dry crumbs. You want the mixture to be similar to wet sand, but the graham cracker crumbs will be coarser than sand.

Transfer the mixture to the pie plate. Make sure you have a microwave-safe pie plate.

Gently press the graham crackers into the pie plate bottom and around the sides. Your fingers and palms work well as well as the back of a spoon or the back of a smaller measuring cup.

Once it is pressed into the pie plate, pop it in the microwave for 1 minute and cook on high.

Immediately remove it from the microwave and then place it in the fridge to chill. I usually chill mines for 1-2 hours, so it’s cold when I’m ready to add pie filling.
